Brittany Brown
CEO, Founder, and Chief Accountant
Brittany founded LedgerGurus in 2014 after seeing a need to serve small businesses and having a desire to create a flexible work environment for others like her. Brittany will say she never intended to start a company or be an entrepreneur, but she has quietly been creating things for many years.
Brittany earned Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy from Brigham Young University. After an internship at KPMG, Brittany worked at Squire in their advisory services group, and then as the CFO for DSB Construction before founding LedgerGurus. Brittany is a CPA and QuickBooks ProAdvisor certified in QuickBooks Online Advanced and QuickBooks Enterprise.
In her role, Brittany drives many strategic initiatives and relationships at LedgerGurus. She also convinced Stephen, COO and husband, into ditching his software career to join LedgerGurus full time.
Stephen Brown
COO and Co-Founder
Stephen never planned on working in accounting but was slowly convinced on moving into this space full-time by Brittany. His journey from civil engineering to software to accounting has given him exposure to many different business disciplines. Fortunately, an MBA and years on the business side of software has made him a formidable accounting professional. He will be first to tell you he is not an accountant, but his finance and technology background make him uniquely qualified to help customers with their business needs.
Stephen has an MBA from the University of Utah, a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Brigham Young University and is a CISSP. Before LedgerGurus, Stephen held executive, product management, engineering, and sales roles at a variety of technology companies including LANDESK, Arellia, Altiris, Symantec, and NetSchools. He is a QuickBooks Online Advanced certifed ProAdvisor and certified in many of LedgerGurus supported technologies.
As the Chief Operating Office at LedgerGurus, Stephen is focused on growing and scaling the business. He saw an opportunity to help Brittany do something unique and special at LedgerGurus and they are passionate about helping businesses grow and succeed.
