Podcast Trailer: The Need for Better Financial Information in Ecommerce

00Stephen Brown, Chief Operating Officer1 min

Stephen Brown has listened to podcasts for two decades and kept running into the same gap: plenty of ecommerce shows, very little financial depth. This trailer explains what he plans to do about it. He introduces himself, LedgerGurus, and Solé Toscana, and sets the premise that everything in a business carries a financial impact, which puts every topic on the table.

Stephen never planned on working in accounting but saw the power of good financial information when navigating a financial crisis for a software startup he lead. When Brittany started LedgerGurus, he saw the need for all small businesses to have the power of better financial information and operations. His journey from civil engineering to software to accounting has given him exposure to many different business disciplines.

An MBA, years on the business side of software, and a decade plus of owning two businesses and working with customers has made him a formidable financial professional. His technology, business, and finance background make him uniquely qualified to help customers with their business needs.

Stephen has an MBA from the University of Utah, a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Brigham Young University and is a CISSP. Before LedgerGurus, Stephen held executive, product management, engineering, and sales roles at a variety of technology companies.

As the Chief Operating Officer at LedgerGurus, Stephen is focused on growing and scaling the business. He has also supported many businesses as a fractional CFO and leads LedgerGurus' Advisory Practice.

Stephen Brown

Welcome to the Ecommerce Finance Podcast. I'm your host, Stephen Brown, COO of LedgerGurus, fractional CFO, and co-owner of DTC brand Solé Toscana.

I love podcasts. I've been listening to them for over two decades, but I find a lack of depth on financial discussions around aspects of ecommerce. For that reason I want to bring this podcast to the world, so that owners, operators, and others in ecommerce can have a better understanding of the financial implications of what they're doing in ecommerce. The reality is everything in a business has a financial impact, and therefore every topic is on the table.

Now as for me, I've been around ecommerce for some time. LedgerGurus is a client accounting services business, also known as an outsourced accounting business, and we've specialized in ecommerce accounting since 2017. I'm also a co-owner of a direct to consumer brand, Solé Toscana, which provides Italian organic skincare via a Shopify store.

Personally, I earned a degree in engineering and spent almost two decades in tech before going on this journey in accounting and ecommerce. Along the way I earned an MBA and have consulted with hundreds of companies as part of LedgerGurus throughout the years.
